Welcome to my Blog

Inspired by my dear friend Julia Schneider (her blog is linked to her name), I started this blog for my writing. As a self-proclaimed writer without anything published, I often write things that end up stored in my notes app, Google Drive, or occasionally Instagram when paired with an artistic video I made. Although I love that people can see my work as a writer through those video projects, it has become a consistent filter for my work. If it can’t be paired with a short film, it can’t be read at all. That, to me, has felt like a disservice to the creative, inner child that loves to tell stories. Equally important, if I ever want people to read my work in a serious fashion, I have to start somewhere. So why can’t that somewhere be here?

My hope for this blog is for it to be similar to an art museum; a collection of things I have created for anyone to view and hopefully be moved by. Not only can it act like an archive for me when I want to track my growth as a writer, but it can also serve as a place for my work to see the light. Although this isn’t very different than the dark closest of any drive or app, it at least provides me the opportunity to become used to people reading my work as opposed to hearing it, something I have found to be challenging for me. If it’s read “wrong,” then it is all ruined, though some friends (Julia, of course) have challenged that idea.

This blog will contain a variety of things, as I don’t see myself as one type of writer. So, expect letters, short stories, articles, and even poems. If I had to describe my writing, I would say it’s personal. Maybe, even intimate. Writing has been a consistent way for me to work through whatever is going on in my life, and I won’t allow the public to change that. Any time I view art, I assume that it meant something personal to the creator, which is something I find extremely valuable. I believe the specification of details in someone’s life opens it up for the viewer to feel seen, learn about others, and even leave feeling less alone in whatever they may be going through. At least, that has been my experience, and one I would like to repeat for any future readers. Therefore, I hope you enjoy whatever you read on this blog. If you don’t because I sound young, naive, biased, etc, or for any other reason, I completely understand because everything isn’t meant for everyone. That being said, thank you for reading.

Yours,

KM
