Hi! I’m KeShawn Mellon.
I feel in love with acting the moment I saw my first theatre performance in 8th grade. Learning that people could do that for a living, my love spread to movies and TV shows, growing into a passion. This evolved into participating in theater during high school, which led me to college where I received my BFA in Acting at Ohio University in May of 2021. While there, I studied techniques such as Meisner, Shakespeare, Chekhov, and more.
During the summer of 2019, I also attended the life-changing summer intensive Theatermakers at the National Theater Institute, where I was awarded the Miranda Family Scholarship and became a Miranda Family Fellow. The following summer, summer of 2020, I co-founded the student-run BIPOC theater Vibrancy Theater, where I was Co-Artistic Director until May 2021. Following graduation, I became an acting apprentice at Theatrical Outfit, then the Kenny Leon Intern at the Alliance Theatre, and spent some time living abroad.
Throughout those years, I deepened my relationship with new work and writing, eventually writing then producing and starring in my own one-man show, El Duelo. Invigorated with my experience creating and acting in a production inspired by my time in Spain, I continued studying my craft at the Alliance Theatre until I returned to Europe to participate in the Kaimera Lab hosted by Kaimera Productions in France.
Now in New York, I am excited to pursue my love and passion for acting in the city.
